A home renovation, or even just a wall removal project, is a great chance to enhance your living space while providing an avenue for you to express your creativity. However, the decision to carry out a remodelling project, no matter how big or small it is, also requires you to deal with certain obligations before even starting the actual renovation. Some contractors and building companies, such as Perth Wall Removals, can take care of the Pre-Works for you, making it a part of the initial agreement. This means that you don’t have to worry about anything at all. You can just sit back, relax and wait for the conclusion of the project.
This Pre-Works service includes:
1. Free Property Inspection
Our project manager will personally visit your property to determine whether the wall that you would like to be removed is load-bearing. After careful assessment, he will then inform you about the feasibility of the project.
On our previous blog, we wrote about some basic factors that you can look at to have an idea of what needs to be checked before taking down a wall.

2. Submit Plans for Building Approval
If our project manager confirms that the wall to be removed is load-bearing, meaning it’s keeping a part of your house standing, a building permit will be required. But you don’t need to worry about this as well. We will simply organise this with you, then we’re going to take care of the rest of the process.
3. Engage a Structural Engineer (if required)
The local shire doesn’t just issue a permit to whoever needs it. They require a proper floor plan and an engineer report, especially if the project involves the removal of a load-bearing wall. Then again, we’ll take care of this burden for you as we have engineers to help us produce these requirements.
4. Provide a drafting service
Not all clients have an existing house plan so we sometimes need our draftsman to draw a new set of plans for them.

5. Provide a full plumbing and electric disconnection
(if required)
If our team has also confirmed that a wall has plumbing and/or electrical outlets or wirings running through it, we can’t just break that wall right away; it would be a dangerous task. So we first need to disconnect any electric, plumbing or Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) vents, to ensure the safety of the wall removal project.
Taking down a wall may seem quite simple, but it is a task that needs to be carried out the proper way. Getting a professional contractor or a wall removal specialist would be the wisest thing to do to ensure that your project will go on smoothly and that the safety of your property is top priority.
